ERWIN SCHROTT belongs to one of the highest in demand singers of his field – especially as an interpreter of Mozart roles like Don Giovanni, Leporello and Figaro.
He comes from Montevideo (Uruguay) and gave his debut at the age of 22 as Roucher in Andrea Chénier. Soon after, invitations followed at important stages like the Milan Scala, the New York Metropolitan Opera, the Opéra National de Paris, the Washington National Opera, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Hamburg Staatsoper, to Brussels, Genova, Los Angeles and to the Salzburg Festival. Current performances included and include Dulcamara (Madrid, New York, Montevideo, Munich), Don Giovanni (Paris, Monte Carlo, Munich, Buenos Aires, Budapest), Escamillo (Verona), Attila (Palermo), Leporello (New York), Scarpia (Berlin), Nozze-Figaro (London, New York). At the Wiener Staatsoper, Erwin Schrott gave his debut in 1999 as Banquo (Macbeth) and also sang since then Leporello, Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Conte d’Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Méphistophélès (Faust) and Dulcamara.
