Festival

Beethovenfest Bonn 2019

‘Moonlight’: thus the motto of the 2019 Beethovenfest. What looks at first like a wry allusion to the ‘Moonlight Sonata’ turns out to be fruitful terrain for this year’s programme.

Programme
Overview

The Vox Bona Chamber Choir opens our ‘Nocturne Weekend’ with a thematically tight-knit a cappella programme featuring choral works from 150 years, all associated with the theme of night. Johannes Brahms’s ‘Little German Requiem’ stands alongside folksong arrangements by Max Reger and a ‘neo-impressionist’ piece by the American composer Eric Whitacre. This 16-voice choir will present Richard Strauss‘s setting of Schiller’s ode ‘Der Abend’ (Evening) and Schumann’s ‘Mondnacht’ (Moonlit night) in an arrangement by the extraordinary choir conductor Clytus Gottwald. The evening will end with a buoyant choral arrangement of Piazzolla’s tango ‘Adiós Nonino’.

Program

  • 'From evening to dawn'. Choral music by Johannes Brahms, Richard Strauss, Max Reger, Hugo Wolf, Gustav Mahler, Astor Piazzolla, Leonard Bernstein and others
Venue Info

Volksbankhaus - Bonn
Location   Westliche Karl-Friedrich-Straße 53

The VolksbankHaus was on 26./27. June 1997 opened.

At that time, the VolksbankHaus set new urban architectural accents in the Goldstadt. The whole object is based on the "house-in-house" system, where almost all areas of the house are enclosed by a glass façade and closed off by a unique roof in Europe.

The VolksbankHaus is interesting from an ecological point of view. Thanks to numerous computer simulations, the house could be designed in such a way that it achieves very low heating power compared to other similar objects.

An ice storage also provides pleasant coolness on the hot days of the year, without, however, the negative effects of an air conditioner to call out.
