About
Strauss Capelle Vienna is a Viennese orchestra devoted to the Strauss family tradition. It traces its roots to an ensemble founded by Johann Strauss I in 1827 and was revived in 1977.
Strauss Capelle Vienna is a Viennese orchestra that cultivates the Strauss family's waltz and polka tradition. The orchestra traces its roots to the ensemble founded by Johann Strauss I in 1827, which Eduard Strauss I disbanded in 1901. In 1977 leading musicians of the Vienna Philharmonic, the Vienna State Opera and the Volksoper revived it, and since then it has given more than 3,000 concerts worldwide. Its players wear historical red and white uniforms, and Rainer Roos has been chief conductor since 2011.
