About
Italian baritone Nicola Alaimo made his Royal Opera debut in the 2016/17 Season as Giorgio Germont (La traviata).
Alaimo was born in Palermo. He won the Giuseppe di Stefano Competition as a teenager and made his professional debut as Dandini (La Cenerentola). He was subsequently invited by Riccardo Muti to sing Don Pasquale for the Ravenna Festival and on tour in Europe and Russia, and Pharaon (Moïse et Pharaon) for Rome Opera. Alaimo’s opera engagements since include Guillaume Tell for Dutch National Opera, the Rossini Opera Festival, Pesaro, Opéra Monte Carlo, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, La Monnaie, Brussels (in concert) and in La Coruña, Falstaff for the Metropolitan Opera, New York, La Scala, Milan, and in Marseilles, Dulcamara (L’elisir d’amore) for Teatro di San Carlo, Naples, Deutsche Oper Berlin and Bavarian State Opera, Sir Riccardo Forth (I puritani) for Teatro Real, Madrid, and in Turin, Don Pasquale for Teatro Real and La Scala, Milan, Raimbaud (Le Comte Ory) for La Scala, Belcore (L’elisir d’amore) for the Metropolitan Opera and Vienna State Opera, Germont for Teatro Regio, Turin, Fra Melitone (La forza del destino), Bartolo (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and Dandini for Paris Opéra, Dandini for Salzburg Festival and Doctor Bartolo, Don Pomponio Storione (La gazzetta), Don Geronio (Il turco in Italia), Aliprando (Matilde di Shabran) and Duke of Ordow (Torvaldo e Dorliska) for the Rossini Opera Festival.
Alaimo’s concert performances include the closing recital at the 2015 Rossini Opera Festival.
