Jaka Mihelač studied at the University of music in Ljubljana with Prof. Matjaž Robavs and is winner of numerous singing competitions.
In 2019, he won two special prizes at the Francisco Viñas competition. In 2018, he was a Finalist and winner of the Wil Keune prize at The Hans Gabor Belvedere singing competition. He also received the first prize at the competition of the Slovenian National Theatre Maribor, was a winner of the competition of the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg and was awarded the special Mozart prize at the international singing competition Ferruccio Tagliavini in 2017. Jaka Mihelač also won numerous other first prizes in competitions in Belgrade, Serbia, Herceg Novi and Montenegro. In September 2017, he made his debut in Orff's "Carmina Burana" in the production of Christoph Hagel. With this production he performed in 2018 at the Meistersingerhalle in Nuremberg and the Prinzregententheater in Munich. In 2018 he also made his debut as Prince Yamadori in Puccini's "Madama Butterfly" at the Slovenian National Theatre in Ljubljana. He was also to be experienced as Ottokar in Weber's "Freischütz"at the summer festival of the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg. From 2016 to 2018, he took over the leading roles in three world premieres of Slovenian operas. As a soloist he sang, among others. with the Staatskapelle Berlin, the Berliner Symphoniker, the orchestra of the Slovenian National Theatre and the orchestra of the Slovenian Philharmonic. From the season 2019/20 Jaka Mihelač a member of the International Opera Studio of the Staatsoper unter den Linden, and a scholarship from the Liz Mohn culture and music Foundation.
