About

Eric Cutler is an American operatic tenor, born in 1975 in Iowa, USA.

Eric Cutler is an American operatic tenor renowned for his lyrical voice and exceptional performance in roles from the operas of Mozart, Wagner, and Strauss. Born in 1975 in Iowa, he studied at Luther University and the Metropolitan Opera's Young Artists Program. Cutler made his Met debut in 2004 as Tamlino in The Magic Flute.

His repertoire encompasses roles in various operas by Mozart such as Idomeneo and Don Giovanni, Wagner including Lohengrin and Parsifal, and Britten with Peter Grimes. Critics have praised Cutler for his clear timbre, musical subtlety, and dramatic expressiveness, although some consider his voice less powerful for heavier Wagnerian roles.

Cutler has performed on the prestigious stages of the Metropolitan Opera, Vienna Opera, and Bayreuth Festival. He actively tours and participates in recordings, including "Lohengrin" under the baton of Gergiev. While his personal life remains out of the public eye, the focus is on his professional activities.
