The program then explores the haunting slow movement from Mykola Barvinsky’s First Piano Trio, one of the earliest Ukrainian voices on the international stage, revealing rich harmonies and deeply expressive lyricism. The concert culminates in Maurice Ravel’s Piano Trio in A minor, composed on the eve of the First World War, a work of shimmering textures, poignant melodies and dramatic contrasts.
