Vytautas SONDECKIS is from a family of musicians from Vilnius. His musical training begins in his home town and continues in St. Petersburg with Anatoly Nikitin, then in Lübeck with David Geringas.
Various awards won in Spain, New Zealand and Russia give him access to an international career. Vytautas Sondeckis has performed at the Berliner Philharmonie, the Leipzig Gewandhaus, the St. Petersburg Philharmonie, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Schleswig Holstein Festivals, the Rheingau Musikfestival, Ravinia (USA) ... Principal Cello of the Orchestra NDR symphony (Norddeutscher Rundfunk), he has recorded for EMI, Universal, Warner and an anthology of romantic works which has been awarded a "Shock" of the World of Music (Naxos). Vytautas Sondeckis made her conducting debut with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra; he was subsequently invited by the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Kristiansand Orchestra, the Toronto Philharmonic Orchestra and the St. Petersburg Hermitage Orchestra. Vytautas Sondeckis is also the cellist of the world-renowned jazz quintet "G-strings", which has recorded a CD with Christoph Eschenbach on the piano, and accompanied by Jose Carreras and Renée Fleming among others.
