Virginia Leva-Poncet first studied singing in the ENMs of Evreux and Aulnay-sous-Bois, earning both a first singing prize and a first prize in music from bedroom. She had for teachers Alain Vanzo, Maria Sartova and Denise Dupleix. She then worked in opera with Christiane Issartel. Her solo career begins with the role of Carmen and continues with the roles of Alceste (Gluck), Dorabella, Idamante and Santuzza. She gives many recitals, playing Wagner (Wesendonck lieder, accompanied by Daniel Isoir), Mahler (Das Lied von der Erde and Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen), Ravel (Scheherazade) and Chausson (Perpetual Song).
In the field of French melody, she had the privilege of working with Régine Crespin. Invited by the Concentus Moraviae Beethovena international festival in Brno, Czech Republic, she plays Debussy (Songs of Bilitis) and Manuel de Falla (Psyche). In the field of oratorio, recent years have been marked by interpretations by Vivaldi, Bach, Pergolese, Gounod and Duruflé, but also Bernstein, Copland, as well as negro spirituals. In Obernburg, Germany, she gave a series of concerts devoted to Grieg's melodies. She gave lectures on opera and the work of the singer and taught singing at the Conservatoire d'Évreux. She has been an artist of the choirs of the Opéra national de Paris since 2001.
