After graduating from the Athens Conservatory with a degree in piano and music theory, Christopoulos pursued his conducting studies at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London and under the guidance of Ilya Musin at the St. Petersburg Conservatory.
Between 2005 and 2011, Christopoulos served as the Chief Conductor of the South-West Germany Philharmonic Orchestra in Konstanz, where he expanded his repertoire to include contemporary music.
From 2011 to 2015, he served as the Music Director of the Thessaloniki Symphony Orchestra in Greece, further strengthening the Greek music scene. The orchestra, which actively promotes Greek composers such as Skalkotas and Xenakis, is renowned for its vibrant performances.
Christopoulos has also conducted with other renowned orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of Romanesque Switzerland, and others.
Known for his energy, attention to detail, and ability to balance classical music like Beethoven and Tchaikovsky with contemporary compositions, Christopoulos' interpretations of Greek works are particularly emotional.
He has recorded numerous albums with renowned labels such as Naxos and BIS, including works by Skalkotas and Mahler. Christopoulos has also won numerous international competitions, including the Baden-Baden Conducting Competition in 2003.
In his personal life, Christopoulos teaches at the Athens Conservatory and actively supports young musicians. He lives in Athens and is a prominent representative of the internationally recognized Greek music school.
