Valery Grigoryevich Kikta is a composer, professor at the Moscow Conservatory. Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (1992), Honored Artist of Ukraine (1999).
Born in the village of Vladimirovka, Donetsk region (Ukraine)
In 1960 he graduated from the Moscow Choral College, in 1965 - the composer department of the Moscow Conservatory (composition class S. S. Bogatyrev and T.N. Khrennikov), in 1967 he graduated from the assistant internship at the conservatory (supervisor - T. N. Khrennikov) .
In 1967-1993, the leading music editor of the publishing house "Soviet Composer".
Since 1968 - member of the Union of Composers of the USSR, since 1989 - member of the Board of the Union of Composers of Moscow and chairman of the musical theater commission of the Union of Composers of Moscow, since 2006 - Secretary of the Union of Composers of Russia. Since 1989 - Member of the Editorial Board of the Ballet Magazine.
He performed at the World Congress of Harpers in Geneva on the topic “Music for Harp in Russia” (2002).
Since 2004, Chairman of the Board of the Russian Harp Society (Moscow).
