Valentina Naforniţa was born in Moldavia and studied in Chisinau and Bucharest. She distinguished herself in several competitions including the European Competition for young opera singers, the Orange Prize and the Hariclea Darclee Voice Contest in Romania.

In 2011, she won three prizes at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition, including First Prize and the Dame Joan Sutherland Audience Prize. From 2011 to 2016, she was a member of the troupe of the Vienna Staatsoper. During that time, she sang numerous roles, including Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Oscar (Un ballo in maschera), Musetta (La Bohème), Marzelline (Fidelio), Norina (Don Pasquale), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Gilda (Rigoletto), Gretel (Hansel und Gretel), and Adina (L’Elisir d’amore). In 2016, she played Sophie in Werther at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and made her Salzburg Festival debut (as Zerlina in Don Giovanni). 
Last season, she made her Paris Opera debut in Die Lustige Witwe (Valencienne) and La Clemenza di Tito (Servilia) and sang the role of Musetta in La Bohème at the Rome Opera.

Projects: 
Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) and Ilia (Idomeneo) at the Vienna Staatsoper, Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) at the Lausanne Opera, and the title role in Iolanta at the Paris Opera.
