About
Uppsala Academic Chamber Choir (UAK) is a mixed choir related to Uppsala University.
The choir was founded in 1957 by Folke Bohlin along with Eric Eric Ericson at Norrlands nation as Norrlandskören, but was open to singers from all student nations in Uppsala. The choir left the nation in 1964 and took its current name. The choir has made itself known for singing both older and newer music, and not rarely premiered music by Swedish and Nordic composers. In 2009, for example, Jaakko Mäntyjärvis Stuttgarter Psalmen premiered and in 2010 Sven-Davidaleström's Messiah. A number of tours have been carried out, both within Sweden and in Europe and the United States.
