About

The baroque organ in rothenkirchen in the Vogtland region aroused Böhme's organ enthusiasm: already as a 13-year-old, he accompanied the divine services there.

After the final state examination Ulrich böhme to 1986 worked as a Cantor and organist at Kreuzkirche Dresden city of Chemnitz. In the year of the 300th anniversary of I. S. Bach in 1985 Ulrich böhme was chosen among many contenders as an organist of the Leipzig Cathedral of St. Thomas, where at the beginning of the XVIII century he worked as a Cantor I. S. Bach and where his remains are now buried in the altar. Since then, his solo performances on the organ at St. Thomas Cathedral during services, concerts, motets with the choir, as well as playing bass continuo to cantatas, oratorios and passions - this is his most important thing.

In addition, regular tours lead Ulrich Boehme to many countries in Europe, North America, Japan, South Korea and Australia.  It produces many radio and television recordings. His numerous CDs have repeatedly received the most enthusiastic reviews from periodicals (Annual Almanac and Critical Review of German Records in 2003). For the magazine of the Leipzig Bach archive, it is more than a quarter of a century " unlimited authority in the interpretation of all Bach music and especially organ."

Ulrich Boehme is a jury member of the most important international organ competitions. He set the impetus for the restoration of the great organ "Sauer" in the Cathedral of St. Thomas and designed the plan of the new Bach organ of St. Thomas. He is also an expert in the restoration of historical organs. Ulrich Boehme has been a Professor at the Leipzig Institute of music and theatre since 1994 and gives courses in organ interpretation both in Germany and abroad.
