TOMÁŠ NETOPIL studied violin and conducting among others in Prague, Stockholm and in Aspen in the USA.

In 2002, he won the international Sir George Solti conducting competition in Frankfurt. From 2009 to 2012, he was chief conductor of the Orchestra of the National Theatre in Prague. In the 2012/2013 season, he studied Les Contes d'Hoffmann at the Opéra National de Paris, The Magic Flute at the Vlaamse Opera, Prokofiev’s The Love for Three Oranges in Amsterdam and a new production of La Juive in Dresden. On the concert podium he introduces himself, in addition to the orchestras he regularly performs with the Orchestre de Paris, the Orchestre National de Lyon, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn and the Vienna Symphony. As a conductor of symphonic works, he has already presented himself with numerous Czech and non-Czech orchestras: among others, the Czech Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, Staatskapelle Dresden, Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the Filharmonica della Scala. As an opera conductor, he has seen success in, among others, Salzburg, Munich, Berlin, Genova, Naples, Turin, Venice and Tokyo. At the Wiener Staatsoper, he has already conducted Rusalka, Das schlaue Füchslein und Così fan tutte.
