Thomas Tatzl (* 1980 in Aflenz, Styria) is an Austrian opera singer (bass baritone).
Tatzl received first singing lessons with Sigrid Rennert and later took up studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. He then moved to the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where he studied with Karlheinz Hanser (opera) and Robert Holl (song and oratorio). He also participated in masterclasses with Thomas Quasthoff, Helena Łazarska and Tom Krause.
In 2010 he graduated with honors from his song and opera studies. After his success in the role of Papageno at the Salzburg Festival 2012 in Peter von Winter's The Labyrinth followed engagements at the Valencia Opera House, Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro dell Opera di Roma, Opera House in Zurich, Opera Cologne, Teatro La Fenice, Teatro Real and many others ,
He made his debut in 2017/18 at the Vienna State Opera and at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich in the role of Harlequin. In the same year, he sang in the United States at New York City's most important and best-known cultural center, the Lincoln Center for Performing Arts, and is on stage at the Beijing National Center for Performing Arts. 2019 is followed by his debut at the Milan Scala.
