Tanner Schwartz began dancing at The Westside School of Ballet in Los Angeles, CA and with Marat Daukayev (Former Principal at the Kirov Ballet). At age 13 he moved to New York to study with the School of American Ballet at Lincoln Center. In 2002 he was the recipient of the D.A.N.C.E. (Danish American National Cultural Exchange) award, to dance as an apprentice with the Royal Danish Ballet.
After this, Mr. Schwartz went on to dance with The Pennsylvania Ballet, Boston Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, The Metropolitan Opera,The Washington National Opera,and as a guest artist with many companies and schools throughout the country.
His repertoire includes countless versions of The Nutcracker (over 300 performances), Marius Petipa's Giselle, The Royal Ballet of London's Production of The Sleeping Beauty, Ben Stevenson's Dracula, Val Canaparoli's Lambarena, Chris Wheeldon's Carnival of the Animals, Jorma Elo's In on Blue, George Balanchine's Rubies and Diamonds from Jewels, The Four Temperments, Tchaikovsky pas de Deux, and Le Tombeau de Couperin, LarLubovitch's Othello, James Kudulka Cinderella, Mauro de Candia's winning piece in the Genesis International Choreographic Competition, Des Mcanuff's Faust (choreography by Kelly Devin), Sonja Frissel's Aida (choreography by Alexi Ratmansky), David Alden's Un Ballo in Maschera (choreography by Maxine Braham), Deborah Warner's Eugene Onegin (choreography by Kim Brandstrup), Otto Schenk's Rusalka (choreography by Carmen de Lavallade), Richard Eyre's Werther (choreography by Sara Erde), Harry Silverstein’s The Magic Flute (choreography by Karma Camp).
