About
Symphony orchestra The Philharmonie was founded in 1999 and consists of - depending on the programming - more than seventy (very) advanced amateur musicians.
In the spring and autumn the orchestra gives two concerts, one in Amsterdam (in Paradiso, Muziekgebouw aan het IJ or another interesting hall) and one at changing locations outside Amsterdam. We also occasionally organize short tours to, for example, Texel or Zeeland. We regularly accompany choirs. The orchestra was led by Daan Admiraal from the beginning until his sudden death in July 2018. Stijn Berkouwer has been our regular conductor since February 2019. We rehearse on Friday evenings at Valeriusplein 15 in the Amsterdams Lyceum (near Amsterdam Zuid Station). The programming is challenging. Look for the pieces that we played at Concert History.
