Susan Spector has served as Second Oboist of the MET Orchestra since the fall of 1992. She has also performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Boston Symphony and served as Principal Oboe of the Spokane Symphony and Wheeling Symphony.
In 1995, Ms. Spector performed in Geneva, Switzerland, at the invitation of Sir Georg Solti, as part of the "Orchestra for Peace", in a performance commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations. Ms. Spector studied with Richard Woodhams, John deLancie and Rhadames Angelucci; she holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Wichita State University and Temple University, respectively. Ms. Spector served as a classical music announcer at NPR stations KMUW in Wichita and KPBX in Spokane. An avid Mets fan, Ms. Spector contributes regular posts about her team to her blog, Perfect Pitch. She resides in Leonia, New Jersey, with her husband, Garry, and daughter, Melanie.
