The trio has performed in collaboration with Geir Inge Lotsberg, Eivind Ringstad, Håvard Gimse and Leif Ove Andsnes. Their first CD received the Supersonic Award (Pizzicato Magazine) and was nominated for the prestigious ICMA Award in 2018.
Sølve Sigerland (violin) studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music and the Ferenc Liszt Academy in Budapest, as well as seeking out the expertise of violinists such as Ana Chumachenco in Switzerland and Lorand Fenvyes in Canada. Sigerland has devoted most of his career to chamber music, although he has appeared as a soloist with leading orchestras of the Nordic countries under conductors including Andrew Litton, Daniel Harding and Leif Segerstam. In recent years his performances of Mozart’s violin concertos nos. 3 and 5 under the leadership of Walter Weller have displayed his soloistic qualities to the full.In 1993 he represented Norway at the Nordic Soloist`s biennial in Stockholm and established his position as a violinist of international format. Later he won two prizes in the international Tibor Varga competition in Sion, Switzerland. His recording of Grieg’s string quartet with, among others, cellist Truls Mørk, was awarded French record industry’s highest accolade, the Diapason d’Or. As a member of Grieg Trio, Sølve Sigerland has toured Europe, USA and Asia and recorded CD`s for Simax, Virgin and EMI Classics including works by Beethoven Brahms, Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Haydn and Mendelssohn.
Henninge Landaas (viola) began playing the violin at age three at the Municipal Music School in Trondheim. She continued her musical education at the Trondheim Music Conservatory and the Norwegian Academy of Music, where she studied with Bjarne Fiskum and Magnus Eriksson. In 1996 she graduated on both violin and viola with highest honors. Henninge Landaas was a member of the Trondheim Soloists from its founding in 1987. She performed both as principal viola and soloist a number of times, including on concert tours of Japan and England, and on a CD recording of the music of Bertil Palmar Johansen. She has had solo performances with other major ensembles, such as the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, and for many years she was the principal viola of the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. In 1994 she became a member of the Vertavo String Quartet, with which she has toured the world over and made numerous recordings—Brahms, Bartok, Nielsen, Schumann, Grieg, Debussy, et al. From 1996-2000 she held the position as principal viola with the Oslo Philharmonic, andfrom 2009 she holds the position CP with the Oslo Philhamonic. She has done a number of recordings for LAWO Classics. Henninge Landaas plays a J. B. Guadagnini viola on loan from Dextra Music.
Ellen Margrete Flesjø (cello) studied at Østlandets Musikkonservatorium (Oslo) and the Norwegian Academy of Music, and subsequently at the Ferenc Liszt Academy in Budapest. Her musical education also includes shorter periods of study with some of the world’s leading cellists, namely William Pleeth, Frans Helmerson and Antonio Janigro. Ellen Margrete Flesjø represented Norway in the Eurovision Young Musicians competition in 1986; that same year she won the first prize and honorary award in the national Sparre Olsen competition in Norway. She also received first prize in the national young string players’ competition “Ungdommens Strykemesterskap”. The following year she co-founded Grieg Trio, and since then her musical career has largely been devoted to the ensemble with which she has performed all over the world and won many awards. In addition to performing with her colleagues in Grieg Trio, Ellen Margrete Flesjø has had festival-collaborations with leading figures on the international music scene, among them Leonidas Kavakos, Ludmilla Berlinskaya, Kim Kashkashian and the renowned Vogler quartet. Norwegian musical partners have included Leif Ove Andsnes, Hans Christian Bræin and Håvard Gimse. From time to time Ellen Margrete Flesjø has performed as soloist with Scandinavian orchestras, and appeared as principal cellist with the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. From 2004-2009 she was co-artistic director of the Stavanger International Chamber Music Festival together with her colleagues in Grieg Trio.
