First prize winner and best performance of Ballade by Li-ly Chang of the 2016 International Young Artist Piano Competition, Korean pianist SooJung Diana Kim has been lauded by Eumyoun, the Korean Music magazine, as a pianist with "richly varied sound, a lively interpretation and a compelling performance."
SooJung Kim has appeared as a soloist, collaborative artist and chamber musician in North America, Asia and abroad at Ward Recital Hall, Gould Rehearsal Hall at the Curtis Institute, Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall, LeClerc Hall, Leith Symington Griswold Hall, Yeong San Arts Center and Korea Times Arts Center. A winner of Korea Music Association Competition, Korea Times Competition and a laureate of Seoul Competition, she has worked extensively with Benjamin Pasternack, HaeSun Paik and Dae-jin Kim. As a winner and best performance, she recorded a CD of Ballade by Li-ly Chang with a radio broadcast. Pianist in Peabody Symphony Orchestra, Peabody Concert Orchestra and Peabody Modern Orchestra, Ms. Kim is attending in Graduate Performance Diploma at the Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University under Yong Hi Moon, where she completed with Bachelor and Masters of music. She has been a recipient of the Leon Fleisher Scholars Funds, Catherine Laura Stevens Mehr Memorial Scholarship and Oh Bang Young Memorial Scholarship from Korean-American Scholarship foundation. Along with all her accomplishments a mayor and South Korea's former president Myung Bak Lee and Seoul city supported her studies in 2005-2008.
