About

The Symphony Orchestra Schöneberg (SOS) was founded in 1993 by Hobby musicians who had grown out of the student orchestras and soon developed into one of the established amateur orchestras in Berlin. People from different professions meet in their spare time to make music together under professional guidance at a high level. The orchestra performs twice a year in the Berlin Philharmonie's most sold-out grand hall.

The Schoeneberg Symphony orchestra is registered as e. V.

The concert Chronicle lists works by composers of all eras and many countries, from classics to less known works to the world premiere of their own compositions. In addition to pure symphonic works, there are often solo concerts and choral symphonic pieces in the program. Most of the soloists are members of the Berliner Philharmoniker. The cooperation with choirs is based on mutual interests.

The orchestra collaborated with renowned conductors such as Gabriel Feltz, Hermann Bäumer, Henrik Schaefer, Carlos Spierer, Gerhardt Müller-Goldboom, Michael Sanderling, Stefan Rauh and Sir Simon Rattle. At the same time, the orchestra accompanied numerous internationally renowned solo artists, such as the pianist Avan Yu and Emre Elivar, violinist Guy Braunstein, clarinetist Wenzel Fuchs, the hornist Stefan de Leval Jezierski, violist Olaf Maninger and Hasan Yükselir, Michaela Kaune at their concerts.

The highlight of the orchestra's concert activity is the performances in the Great Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic. In addition, concerts are regularly held in the town hall of schöneberg, and in various churches of Berlin, including the Berlin Cathedral, Gethsemane Church, and the Linden Church. Further performances take place in Berlin as well as In Germany and abroad.
