Sebastiano Severi, born in Cesena in 1975, began his musical studies at the age of seven with Maestro Leonello Godoli. Thanks to a scholarship, he studied at the United World College of the Atlantic from 1992 to 1994, where he continued his high school and musical studies under the guidance of cellist Sharon McKinley, also approaching ancient performance practice with the Renaissance violinist Katherine Mackintosh. 

In 1995 he was awarded the First Prize in the "Dino Caravita" Competition. In 1997 he obtained the Diploma of Cellist at the Regia Accademia Filarmonica of Bologna, becoming an Academician, and in 1998 he graduated under the guidance of Maestro Rocco Filippini at the “G. Verdi ”of Milan. He then specialized with M. Brunello, R. Filippini, M. Scano, and for chamber music with PierNarciso Masi, Krista Butzberger, Trio di Milano and Lucy Van Dall. He regularly collaborates with the International Orchestra of Italy, the Italian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Città di Ferrara Orchestra, the Emilia Romagna Symphony Orchestra “A. Toscanini ", The Philarmonia Veneta Orchestra, The Italian Chamber Orchestra, The Scala Philharmonic Orchestra, The Baroque Musicians of Lugano, The Bombay Chamber Orchestra, The Pistoia Pro-Music Orchestra. He has held the position of first cello in the Orchestra of the Teatro Regio of Turin, the International Orchestra of Italy, the Bombay Chamber Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Algieri, the Orchestra Pro-Musica of Pistoia, who have seen him performing in France, Germany, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, Egypt, Algeria, Greece and India, as well as in prestigious Italian cinemas, under the rods of R. Muti, D. Dini-Ciacci, S. Accardo, P. Olmi, M. Stefanelli, A. Borghese, L. Koenigs, G. Gelmetti, T. Severini, J. Kovacev, F. Rossi, Bundit Ungransee, D. Fasolis, Lu Jia, D. Giorgi. He has performed recordings for the "Radio Suisse Romande", the "BBC" Welsh, and an audio-video DVD on Haydn's Trios for violin, cello and piano which he recorded for Rhona Classics together with S. Mullai and M. Palumbo. He performed in guitar and cello, cello and violin duo, in Trio with piano, and in numerous chamber ensembles with particular attention to Baroque and twentieth century music, with which he took part in important Festivals such as "Festival Angelica" of Bologna, "Bologna City of Culture 2000", "Festival Nuova Consonanza" of Rome, Forum Neues Musiktheater of Stuttgart. A member of the Nu Ork string quintet, in 2005 he performed in numerous Greek and Roman amphitheaters of Italy including those of Pompeii and Verona alongside Lucio Dalla. With the baroque cello he collaborates with Diego Fasolis and the Barocchisti of Lugano, Federico Ferri and the Accademia degli Astrusi, Alessandro De Marchi and the Academia Montis Regalis of Mondovì. Since 2007 he is a member of the Ensemble of contemporary music Fontana Mix of Bologna.
