Sarah Gilford is a British soprano who graduated with a First Class BMus (hons) degree from the Royal Northern College of Music last year. She has been awarded the Amanda Roocroft Award, SGYFM Adult Song Recital Prize, the Bessie Cronshaw/Frost Brownson Song Cycle Prize and the Freckleton and Doherty Cup for Singing. She was recently a finalist in the Elizabeth Harwood Memorial Prize.
Sarah has been a soloist for many Oratorios and religious works including Harmoniemesse (Haydn), Vesperae Solennes de Confessore (Mozart), Nelson Mass (Haydn), Coronation Mass (Mozart), Symphony no.4 (Mahler), Les nuits d'ete (Berlioz), Gloria (Vivaldi), and Messiah (Handel). As well as this she has performed as a guest soloist for Pendyrus Male Voice Choir and Chepstow Male Voice Choir.
Sarah has had the pleasure of working with WNYO, RNCM Opera and Woodhouse Opera. Her roles have included, 'Johanna' (Sweeney Todd); 'Police Woman' (The Sleeper), 'Dancing Lidochka' (Cheryomushki), 'CloClo' (The Merry Widow), 'Jennie Hilderbrand' (Street Scene) and 'Dorabella' (Cosi Fan Tutte). Most recently she performed the role of 'Cleopatra' in the UK premiere of Hasse's Marc'Antonio e Cleopatra and will be performing a Brazilian premiere of this work in August 2016.
