Mezzo soprano Sara Klein Horsman obtained her master's degree at the ArtEZ conservatory in January 2012. During her studies she studied with Riekje Bakker and Harry van Berne. After graduating, Sara was awarded both the Romke Kalma Fund and the Willem Mengelberg Fund to support her further development.
She continued her education with Jard van Nes and took part in master classes with, among others, Margreet Honig, Rudolf Jansen and Barbara Hannigan. Sara is currently being coached by Hanneke de Wit.
Sara is a sought-after soloist. She has performed with leading orchestras such as Holland Baroque Society, HET Symfonieorkest and Concerto d ’Amsterdam. She was among others heard in the passiones and cantatas of J.S. Bach, the Requiem of W.A. Mozart, Die Mutter by H. Eisler, the Stabat Mater by G.B. Pergolesi and the Messe Solonnelle by G. Rossini.
Sara regularly gives song recitals with pianist Vesna Dimcevska. The duo performed together during the Amsterdam Canal Festival. Since November 2015 they are one of the duos of Friends of the Song.
In 2012, the chamber opera Ophelia was composed especially for Sara, by the contemporary composer Gustavo Trujillo.
Sara is also one of the founders of Vliegwiel, a collective of young musicians. Together they realized two innovative opera productions and toured the Dutch theaters
