Programme

Overview

Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony redefines the boundaries of orchestral power, while George Onslow’s Symphony No. 1 unveils a long-forgotten treasure of melodic elegance. Join us for an evening that bridges revolutionary soundscapes with crystalline charm.Step into a transformative concert experience where two symphonic masterpieces converge. First, Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony, a landmark in Western music, unleashes its groundbreaking heroism and sweeping dynamism across four movements that forever altered the symphonic form. Then, rediscover the refined grace of George Onslow’s Symphony No. 1, a neglected gem by an Anglo-French composer whose chamber-like textures and crisp melodies captivated 19th-century Europe. Under the baton of a masterful conductor, this programme offers a vivid contrast between Beethoven’s bold innovations and Onslow’s melodic poise—an evening of potent contrasts, rich harmonies and lasting inspiration.
