Degree in Contemporary Dance from the Theater Institute of Barcelona (1993) and Bachelor of Art History from the University of Barcelona (2000). He extends his training with teachers such as Rosella Hightower, Gerard Collins and Carl Paris among others and receives master classes from Caroline Carlson and Lloyd Newson (DV8).
He began his career as a creator in 1992 winning the 2nd Prize in the VI Contest
Choreographer of Madrid and in 1995 founded his own company.
The diversification of his creative work with the Company that bears his name has resulted in the creation of eight shows with titles such as “Lulu, first night” (considered by the specialized critic among the five best dance shows seen in Barcelona in 2012), “UL / Inmérita Solitudo”, “Divinariana”, “Mon Genet” (presented at the Grec Festival of Barcelona in 2005) or “The fragility of transitive verbs” (premiered at the Grec Festival of Barcelona in 2016); five street choreographies, among which “(Ob) sesio_Na2”, “Water to fig and pear wine” and “Tennessee Williams did not write to me” (premiered at Fira Tàrrega 2016) and five works aimed at children and children family of those that stand out "Zaquizamí", "Almazuela" and "Zing-Zing", awarded at the 2011 FETEN fair in Gijón. Notable and multifaceted artist combines the creative activity of his company with the participation as choreographic and movement director of theater shows, operas and musical plays in the Lliure Theater, National Theater of Catalonia (TNC), Teatro de la Zarzuela de Madrid or the Liceo de Barcelona working with renowned stage directors and playwrights such as Xavier Albertí, Lluïsa Cunillé, Josep Maria Miró, Pau Miró, Jordi Oriol, Marc Rosich and Josep Costa among others and companies such as T de Teatre, Azar Teatro or the musical group “ Le Croupier. " Roberto-Esq was co-artistic director and choreographer of the inaugural show of the re-opening of the legendary Barcelona theater El Molino in 2010 and in 2008 he directed the children's show “Flamenco-ooh !!” for the L’Estenedor company. In 2015 he directed and starred in the "Cabaret 13" with which he tries to recover the cabaret shows of the Barcelona rogue of the early twentieth century, which is successfully represented for more than six consecutive months and with which he achieves notable criticisms.
In recent years he has specialized in the direction of movement of contemporary operas of creation: “Yo, Dalí” (2011 - Teatro de la Zarzuela de Madrid and the Liceo de Barcelona), “El Eclipse” (2014 - Festival Grec and TNC ), Max 2014 Award for the best musical show, and “4Carmen“ (2015 - Peralada Festival). He has also been the choreographic director of the inaugural shows of the National Theater of Catalonia “Taxi, al TNC” (2013), “Per Començar Sarsuela” (2014) and “L’aplec del Remei” (2016).
Roberto G. Alonso has made incursions into the world of journalism (collaborator of the magazine Zero and the radio program La Transversal de RNE directed by Paco Tomás), the cinema (actor in the short films of “All” by José Martret, “Estrella” by Belen Herrera de la Osa and “Esquinas” by Julio Fernández Buxo) and has collaborated with prestigious and unique artists and companies from the world of entertainment and arts such as The Chanclettes, La Terremoto de Alcorcón, Pedro Almodóvar and Lorenzo Caprile.
In addition to designing the costumes of most of the shows of his company, with which he won the 2011 FETEN award for best costumes and characterization with the show "Zing-Zing", he has performed the costumes for the theater productions "Cabaret 13" ( 2015), “Una Ronda” by Cia. Memory at Versus Teatre (2015) and “RGB” by the Chanclettes at the Villarroel Theater (2002)
He also highlights his work as a teacher teaching at the Superior School of Dramatic Arts of the Theater Institute (Barcelona and Terrassa), Theater Classroom of the University of Girona and the School of Dance and Musical Comedy Cocó Comin (Barcelona) and Aules School ( Barcelona). He is currently a professor at ESART - International Campus of the Performing Arts (Barcelona).
