Roberto De Biasio, Italian tenor, was born in Syracuse, Sicily, in 1967.
Roberto de Biasio, born in Sicily, began his musical career studying flute in Naples and literature at the University of Cassino. His debut as Governor de Vanderdendur and Ragotsky in "Outspoken" in 2002 marked the start of his singing career. In 2003, he portrayed Strozzi in Donizetti's "The Rare Sailor Faliero" at La Fenice Theatre, Venice, and Riccardo in Verdi's "The Masquerade Ball" at Tirana Opera and Beijing Theatre. In 2004, he played Pinkerton in the centennial celebration of Puccini's "Madame Butterfly" at Kyoto Concert Hall.
In 2006, de Biasio gained public recognition for his role as Edgardo in Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor" in Bergamo. He returned to Italy in 2007, singing Mary Stuart in Leicester at the Macerata Festival and Lucrezia Borgia at the Gianna Gennaro Theatre in Bergamo. From 2008, he focused on Verdi, including Ismail in "Nabucco" at La Fenice and Don José in "Carmen" at Verona Arena. He also starred in "I Owe Foscari" at the Verdi Festival in Parma.
In Parma, he played Foresto in "Attila" in 2010 and Alfredo in "La Traviata" at La Fenice. That year, he debuted as Adorno in "Simon Boccanegra" in Montreal, leading to his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in 2011. He also sang Rodolfo in "La Louise Miller" at the Paris Opera.
In 2012, de Biasio starred in "Ernani" at the Met and Macduff in "Macbeth" in Bologna and Cagliari. In 2015, he played Gabriele Adorno in "Simon Boccanegra" in Avignon, and in 2017, he starred in a concert version of Verdi's "Stiffelio" in Berlin.
In November 2018, he will perform Don Juan in "Carmen" in Florence.
