Ramon van Engelenhoven (1995) began playing the piano at the age of six. In 2017, he obtained his bachelor’s degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with the highest possible mark, a 10 out of 10. Currently he continues to study for his master degree with Frank Peters and Jan Wijn. He attended master classes with, among others, Alexander Gavrylyuk, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Boris Berman, Paul Badura-Skoda, Leslie Howard, Alexandre Tharaud, Enrico Pace and Michael Voskresensky.
Ramon has been a first prize-winner of numerous Dutch competitions, among them the Steinway & Sons Competition in 2012, after which he represented his country at the International Steinway Festival in Hamburg, and the Prinses Christina Concours.
In November 2015 he won the first prize at the Young Pianist Foundation Competition in Amsterdam. The international jury also awarded him the ‘Grand Prix Youri Egorov’, a prize that is only awarded when the winner is considered a talent of international potential. This prize has given him the opportunity to perform Prokofiev’s Fifth Piano Concerto with the Mariinsky Orchestra and Valery Gergiev in Saint Petersburg.
Ramon has performed in foremost European venues such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Mariinsky Concert Hall in Saint Petersburg and the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, Germany. He has also performed live for Dutch Radio 4 and regularly gives concerts and recitals in the Netherlands. Following a special invitation by Princess Christina herself, he played at the CIMA Festival in Porto Ercole (Italy). In 2016, he appeared as a soloist with the Real Filharmoniá de Galicia in Santiago de Compostela as well as the Noord-Nederlands Orkest across the Netherlands. In the same year he was invited to give a concert in the Old Academy of Music, the former home of Franz Liszt in Budapest. He also performed in Greece, the United States and Canada at the invitation of the Prinses Christina Concours.
