About

Born in Poland, Rafał Siwek is particularly renowned as a performer of the Verdian repertoire: he sang Philippe II (Don Carlo) in Tel Aviv under the direction of Zubin Mehta, at the Teatro Regio in Turin with Semyon Bychkov, at the New National Theater in Tokyo and the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, Zaccaria (Nabucco) at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa and Tel Aviv with Daniel Oren, the title role of Attila in Warsaw, Silva (Ernani) at Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, Wurm (Luisa Miller) in Valencia and Bayerische Staatsoper Munich, Ramfis (Aida) in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro with Lorin Maazel.

In 2011, he made his debut at the Scala in Milan as Sarastro (The Magic Flute), at the Staatsoper Berlin (The Grand Inquisitor of Don Carlo), at the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich (Timur de Turandot, Ramfis) and sings Hunding (The Valkyrie) at the Nice Opera, Narbal des Troyens (conducted by Valery Gergiev), Raimondo de Lucia di Lammermoor and Zaccaria in Warsaw. The following year, he returned to Munich's Bayerische Staatsoper (Siegfried's Fafner with Kent Nagano) and made his debut at the Staatsoper Hamburg (Prince Igor Galitzky) and at the Peralada Festival (The Commander of Don Giovanni). In 2014, he performed Eugene Grégine Prince Onegin under the direction of Kirill Petrenko and Sparafucile of Rigoletto with Marco Armiliato at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Ramfis and the Grand Inquisitor at the Zurich Opera with Fabio Luisi, Philip II at the Bolshoi Theater Moscow and the New National Theater of Tokyo, Timur at the Teatro Lirico of Cagliari and the Arena of Verona. In 2015, he sang Daland (The Ghost Ship) in Tokyo, Halka and The Haunted Moniuszko Manor in Warsaw, Galitzky at the Mariinsky in St. Petersburg, the Commander at the Arena of Verona, the Grand Inquisitor at the Bayerische Staatsoper. In 2016, he made his debut at the Teatro Real in Madrid in The Magic Flute and sang Verdi's Requiem at the Leipzig Gewandhaus under the direction of Roberto Abbado. Rafał Siwek also performs in concert under the direction of Lorin Maazel and Zubin Mehta (Verdi's Requiem, Beethoven's Ninth Symphony) and Alberto Zedda (Rossini's Stabat Mater), among others.
