About
The Zaïde Quartet has been around since 2009 and took classes with, among others, Hatto Beyerle, viola player of the Alban Berg Quartet. In the first years of its existence, the French ensemble received several important awards, such as the Bordeaux String Quartet International Competition (2010), the Charles Hennen Concours (2010) and the Beijing International Music Competition (2011).
During the Viennese Joseph Haydn Kammermusikwettbewerb (2012) the ladies won not only a first prize but also three special prizes. The Zaïde Quartet has since performed on the major stages of London, Berlin, Paris, Vienna and Boston.
In addition to performing classical and romantic repertoire, the Zaïde Kwartet also likes to play modern and contemporary music; for example, it worked closely with composer Jonathan Harvey. To perform more widely occupied chamber music works, the Zaïde Kwartet played with cellist Edgar Moreau and pianists Alexandre Tharaud and Eric Le Sage, among others.
In February 2016 the Zaïde Kwartet did the Kleine Zaal
of the Concertgebouw as part of a European tour in the Rising Stars program of ECHO. It debuted there during the Robeco SummerNights of 2015.
