About
The Amsterdam Project Choir or PA'dam is a young professional chamber choir from Amsterdam that performs on a project basis.
Ensemble
PA'dam was founded in 1998 with the intention to offer vocal students from the Dutch conservatories the opportunity to gain choir experience at a professional level. From the start, PA'dam is led by choir conductor Maria van Nieukerken.
Repertoire
PA'dam celebrated its first anniversary in November 2004 with the performance of an adaptation of Bach's Goldberg variations by Gustavo Trujillo for choir, instrumental ensemble and speaker.
Since 2004 PA'dam has been singing in the series 'Bach in Monnickendam', a series initiated by organist Wim Dijkstra and Maria van Nieukerken. During these concerts, each time a cantata by Bach is combined with other instrumental or vocal (baroque) music.
In 2005 PA'dam collaborated on the opera Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell at the invitation of Xynix Opera as part of the multi-year cultural project the Peace of Utrecht. In 2007 PA'dam performed with the Metropole Orkest in a performance of music from computer games at the music festival Lowlands.
