Polina Alexandrovna Semionova (born September 13, 1984) is a ballet dancer and teacher, laureate of the Benoit Dance Prize (2014).
As a guest ballerina, she danced in productions of many theaters in the world, including La Scala, the Vienna Opera, the Bavarian State Opera, the Stuttgart Ballet, the English National Ballet, the Bolshoi Theater, the Mariinsky Theater, the Dresden Semper Opera, the Zurich Ballet, the Tokyo Ballet, the California Ballet and others
Born on September 13, 1984 in Moscow, in the family of a biotechnologist and teacher of English.
As a child, she practiced figure skating in the CSKA sports community, danced in the State TV and Radio Ensemble, and then entered the Moscow State Academy of Choreography, where her brother, Dmitry Semionov, who later became a soloist of the Mariinsky Theater, and Anastasia Meskova were among Polina's classmates.
In 2001, as a second-year student, Semionova took part in the IX International Competition of Ballet Artists and Choreographers in Moscow, winning the first prize and a gold medal in the category of “junior group (duos)” (partner - Sergey Vasyuchenko). After the end of the competition, she was also awarded the Mercy award by the Anna Pavlova Foundation.
In 2002, Polina graduated with honors from the Moscow State Academy of Choreography in the class of Sofia Golovkina, after which she was invited by dancer Vladimir Malakhov to join the troupe of the Berlin State Ballet. From 2002 to 2012 she was the soloist of this theater.
In 2011 - guest soloist of the American Ballet Theater and the ballet troupe of the Milan theater "La Scala".
Since 2012 - soloist of the American Ballet Theater and guest soloist of the Mikhailovsky Theater.
Since 2012, Polina has been teaching at the Berlin State Ballet Ballet School, since 2013 - Professor at this school.
