The Kiel Philharmonic Orchestra can now look back on almost 100 years of tradition. It was founded in 1907 by the Verein der Musikfreunde, which is still an important part of classical music life in Kiel today.
The state capital's Philharmonic Orchestra has 76 musicians and plays nine Philharmonic concerts, one New Year's concert and seven new operas per season. It also accompanies a new ballet production and all revivals in music theater, organizes Mozart concerts and musical matinees in chamber formations.
Four times a year children and youth concerts are on the program in the opera house. Under the motto: "Classic for kids", the world of music, instruments and instrumentation as well as composition will be discovered and explored in a playful way together with young music fans.
Special concerts such as the popular "Con Spirito" series, the town hall concert during the Kiel Week or the concert to mark the opening of the Baltic Horse Show are just a few examples of the special commitment of the Kiel Philharmonic Orchestra.
