The South Netherlands Philharmonic is a symphony orchestra in the southern Dutch provinces of Zeeland, Noord-Brabant and Limburg. The orchestra is located in two main locations: Eindhoven and Maastricht.
The orchestra originated in April 2013 from a merger of the Brabant Orchestra and the Limburg Symphony Orchestra. The disappearance of a large part of the government subsidy was the reason for the forced merger of the two independent orchestras.
In 2015, the Russian conductor Dmitri Liss was appointed chief conductor with a three-year contract starting in the 2016-17 season.
