British conductor and violinist Peter Manning was Concert Master of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, a position he held since 1999. Additional solo work at the Royal Opera House included Kafka Fragments in the Linbury Studio Theatre.
Manning attended Chetham’s School of Music and studied at the Royal Northern College of Music with Yossi Zivoni and at Indiana University with Josef Gingold and Nathan Milstein. In 1983 he was appointed leader of the London Philharmonic Orchestra by Georg Solti. He was leader of the internationally renowned Britten Quartet 1986–96 and led the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra 1997–9. His repertory includes all the major works and major new commissions, and he is also a published arranger. He appears internationally as a conductor and is Music Director of Mozart Kinderorchester Salzburg and Artistic Director of the Three Palaces Festival, Malta.
Manning is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and the Royal Northern College of Music and is an honourary member of the Royal College of Music. In the 2016/17 season he continued as Guest Conductor and Guest Concert Master for Dallas Opera.
