Pedro CHamizo (Mérida 1983), has a degree in Dramatic Arts from the University of Kent at Canterbury in the specialty of interpretation and direction. He usually works as a video artist, graphic designer, artistic director, lighting designer and producer.
He is founder of Metaproducciones which is a platform for young artists that aims to generate scenic and musical projects.
For his entrepreneurial capacity he has been awarded the 2013 Ceres de la Juventud Award of the International Festival of Classical Theater of Mérida.
As a video artist, he has collaborated in the operas: "Fuenteovejuna" by J. Muñiz and stage director Miguel del Arco, "Maruxa" by A. Vives, "María Moliner" by A. Parera Fons, "Don Giovanni" by WA Mozart, "Otello" by G. Verdi, "La voix humaine" by F. Poulenc, "Una voce in off" by X. Montsalvatge and "Salome" by R. Strauss, directed by Paco Azorín. "The clock of Lucerne" by M. Marquès, directed by Carlos Martos.
In theater they highlighted their video creations in the productions: "Filoctetes" by Sófocles and directed by Antonio Simón, "The author of Las Meninas" written and directed by Ernesto Caballero. “Squad towards death” by A. Sastre and “Julio César” by W. Shakespeare with the direction of Paco Azorín. “Nobody will see this video” by M. Crimp, “TV & Misèria de la II Transició” by A. Boronat, both directed by Carme Portaceli. "What is not said" by Tennessee Williams and "Forever Alice" directed by Victor Formoso. “Novecento” by Alessandro Baricco, directed by Genoveva Pellicer.
As lighting designer, he has participated in “Soul” by Coco Comín, “Alice”, “The Lucerne Clock” and with the OCNE (National Orchestra of Spain) under the baton of David Afkham designed “La Pasión according to San Mateo” by JS Bach and "The Castle of Barbazul" by B. Bartók.
He is the artistic director of Diana Navarro in his latest work "Resilience." As stage director, he has set up the show “The Garden of Eden” by P. Martín.
He has worked in the most important theaters in the country such as the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Teatro Real de Madrid, Teatro de la Zarzuela, National Dramatic Center, National Auditorium, Arriaga Theater in Bilbao, Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, Teatro Campoamor de Ovideo, etc. And in the most relevant festivals such as the Castell de Peralada Festival, the Mérida Classical Theater Festival, the Grec Festival in Barcelona, the Sagunto Festival, Shakespeare Festival, etc.
Critics have highlighted their dramaturgy, aesthetic and creative ability.
