About
The Orchester91, a symphony orchestra, has existed in Hamburg since its founding in 1991.
Around 100 passionate musicians of all ages have come together in it: experienced amateur musicians, trained musicians and music students.
We are all united by a love of music and the goal of developing great symphonic works together and performing them.
All positions in the symphony orchestra are filled from within our own ranks. Nobody receives money for their participation.
We do not want any encrusted hierarchies: the assignment to the first and second violin changes every year (on request), the positions of the concert master and section leader are alternately filled and the order of the string consoles is drawn anew every year.
The orchestra meets on a total of 7-8 weekends per year. At the end of the rehearsal weekend there is an annual concert in the Great Hall of Hamburg's Laeiszhalle, preceded by a pre-concert.
Each orchestra member can make suggestions for the annual program. From the abundance of suggestions, the orchestra committee compiles several alternative programs on which the orchestra votes.
