Nicolas Bovey was born in Lausanne in 1973 and studied Art History at the University of DAMS in Bologna. He graduated from the Nuova Academia delle Belle Arti Milan, after studying with Margherita Palli. He has been a lighting designer and set designer since 1998, working with directors Valerio Binasco, Andrea de Rosa, Sergio Fantoni, Hinrich Horstkotte, Manfred Karge, Davide Livermore, Valter Malosti, Mario Martone, Francesco Micheli and Serena Sinigaglia. He is fluent in Italian, German, French and English.

Nicolas Bovey was technical director of several festivals and theatres and participated in the scenography of several films and short films. 

In 2015, it achieves the designer of Antonio e Cleopatra, Akenathon, the Miserly and Hotel of the Free Exchange (Turin), and The Purpura de la rosa (Potsdam), Due Partite, Tony Pagoda – Ritorno in Italia (Rome), Macbeth (Paris), Il Mondo di C. I, works for which he also directed lights .In 2014, he designed Adriana lecouvreur for Micheli (Nice) and Quartett for Maltosi. but Euridice, Italiana in Secretary and Hamlet (2013).

In 2012, he signed the scenography of Ciro in Babilonia, the scenography, the costumes and the lights of the Arte del Dubbio. In 2011, he signed the lights of Fidelio, L'italia del Destino, and the scenography of Fratelli, Il Tigrane, Niente Progetti per il Futuro (directed by Berdi) and in 2010 those of Il killer di word, Filippo, From 2007 to 2009, he paricipe projects kKnd of Alaska, Il Matrimonio Segreto, Napoli non si misura con la mente, A summer day, The sorelle Brontë, Bye Bye baby, Bears Trilogy Opus I, A Stone Carver, I Segreti di Milano, Anni ’80, Tristano e Isotta. He also has more than twenty collaborations in scenography, lights or costumes between 1996 and 2007.
