Nelson Goerner is Argentine pianist.
He studied at The national Conservatory in Buenos Aires with Juan Carlos Arabian and Carmen Scalcione. In 1986 he won the Franz Liszt national competition, after which he came under the patronage of Martha Argerich. After moving to Europe, he graduated from the Geneva Conservatory (1990), a student of Maria Tipo. In the same 1990 he became the winner Of the international competition of performers in Geneva, later settled in this city with his wife, Georgian pianist Rusudan Alavidze.
In 1991, he toured Japan, performed in the United States with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and in Canada with the Montreal Symphony orchestra, in the UK with the takacha Quartet.
Gerner's recordings include works by Fryderyk Chopin, Franz Liszt, Ferruccio Busoni, Claude Debussy, and Sergei Rachmaninoff.
