Nathaniel Hunt began his dance training at Glen Burnie High School under the direction of Dianne Rosso. From her encouragement, Nathaniel continued his studies at Design In Motion Dance Studio under the guidance of Colette Cross, and Spotlight Studio of Dance directed by Wynette McGovern.
Nathaniel has trained at the Ailey School, The School at Jacob’s Pillow: Contemporary Program, Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet’s 360˚, Earl Mosley’s Institute for the Arts, and the Joffrey Ballet School. He furthered his artistic and educational studies graduating summa cum laude with a BFA in Dance from Long Island University, Brooklyn under the direction of Dana Hash-Campbell. As an undergrad, Nathaniel's choreography was selected to be performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. at the National College Dance Festival in 2012.
Nathaniel has worked and performed repertoire by Ronald K. Brown, Alexandra Damiani, Manuel Vignoulle, Larry Keigwin, and Annabelle Lopez Ochoa among many others. He has performed professionally and toured both domestically and internationally with Ailey II, Ballet Hispanico, the Metropolitan Opera, Austin McCormick’s Company XIV, Adaptations Dance Theater, Earl Mosley's Diversity of Dance, and Maria Bauman's MBDance.
Nathaniel’s choreographic and guest artist teaching highlights include Bucknell University, Adaptations Dance Theater, Santa Fe College, and Maui Performing Arts Academy. Recently, Nathaniel was an associate adjunct professor at Long Island University - Brooklyn teaching contemporary modern technique.
Nathaniel has been a rehearsal director/assistant for Hope Boykin Dance as well as been an assistant to Matthew Rushing (Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's Rehearsal Director and Guest Artist). Nathaniel is a recipient of the Maryland Distinguished Scholar of the Arts Award and the Award for Excellence in the Arts Program from the National Society of Arts and Letters (in association with The Kennedy Center). He continues to perform diverse repertory, educate aspiring dancers of all ages, and create innovative work that strives to inspire, encourage, and connect with many audiences worldwide. Nathaniel is the Artistic Director and Founder of The Nathaniel Hunt Project, a global dance hub organization created to nourish a legacy of intimate relationships through movement.
