Nadir Vassena (born in Balerna, Ticino) is a Swiss composer of new music.
Vassena studied composition in Milan and at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg. He is a lecturer and since 2004 a member of the board of directors at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano. Vassena is one of the leaders of the Days for New Music Zurich.
He was awarded several prizes for his work. Among them were u. a. 1st prize ex aequo from the Institute for New Music at the Berlin University of the Arts (1994), 2nd prize from the Mozarteum Salzburg (1997) and the Basel Christoph Delz Prize (1999). In 2003 Vassena received a residency grant from the Chretzeturm artist residency in Stein am Rhein.
