The musicAeterna choir was founded by Theodor Currentzis in 2004 in Novosibirsk, from 2011 to 2019 it worked on the basis of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater. Since September 2019, musicAeterna has entered a new stage of development as an independent band.
"Exceptionally harmonious", "an amazing ensemble that has practically no competition" - Russian and foreign critics never tire of singing the merits of the Perm choir musicAeterna.
The repertoire of the collective combines works of different styles and eras, and the performance is given preference for an authentic manner. The programs include works by foreign composers of the Baroque era, masterpieces of Russian choral music of the 18th-20th centuries, as well as the operatic repertoire and works of contemporary authors.
At the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater musicAeterna took part in productions of the operas by W.A. Mozart "Everybody Do It" (2011), "Figaro's Wedding" (2012), "Don Juan" (2014), "Queen of the Indians" by G. Purcell ( 2013), “The Tales of Hoffmann” by J. Offenbach (2015), “Prince Igor” by A.P. Borodin (2015), “La Traviata” by G. Verdi (2016), “La Boheme” by G. Puccini (2017). The musicAeterna choir took part in the world premieres of compositions written especially for him: "Nosferatu" by D. Kurlyandsky (2014), "Tristia" by F. Ersan (2015), "Cantos" by A. Syumak (2016).

The choir regularly collaborates with such conductors as A. Mustonen, P. Hillier, V. Dumester, R. Pichon, A. Marcon and others.
Among the choir partner collectives are the French ensemble "Le Poème Harmonique" and the international Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
The band's touring map includes the cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Berlin, Athens, Paris, Lisbon, Hamburg, Ferrara, Munich, Cologne, Krakow. The musicAeterna choir regularly performs at such international festivals as the Klara Festival in Brussels, festivals in Aix-en-Provence, Lucerne, and the Golden Mask in Moscow. In 2017 the ensemble took part in a production of Mozart's Mercy on Titus (conductor Theodor Currentzis, director Peter Sellars) at the Salzburg Festival, in 2019 - in a production of Mozart's Idomeneo (Currentzis / Sellars).
In 2019 musicAeterna will make its US debut at The Shed in New York with J. Verdi's Requiem.
The musicAeterna choir has an exclusive deal with Sony Classical. Selected discography: "Le nozze di Figaro" (2014, ECHO Klassik award for "Best recording of the year: opera of the 17th-18th centuries"), "Cosi fan tutte" (2014; recording of 2015 according to the magazine Opernwelt), "Les Noces" I.F. Stravinsky (2016). The choir took part in the video recording of the opera "The Indian Queen" by G. Purcell directed by Peter Sellars and conductor Theodor Currentzis - the DVD was also released in 2016 on Sony Classical.
The musicAeterna choir is a laureate of the international Opera Awards (2018). At the beginning of 2018, the collective won the Casta Diva Russian opera award in the category “Event of the Year”. The jury unanimously noted the "rare creative palette and virtuoso skill of the musicAeterna Perm choir".
