Monique Loudières, born April 15, 1956 in Choisy-le-Roi, is a star dancer of the Paris Opera.
After five years of study at the Opera School of Paris from 1967 to 1972, Monique Loudières joined the corps de ballet at the age of 16 and began her solo roles at age 19 with The Blue Bird, The Specter of the Rose and Halo.
In 1981, Rudolf Nureyev chose it to dance Kitri in his production of Don Quixote. Following this interpretation, Rosella Hightower, then director of the Ballet de l'Opéra de Paris, named her "star dancer" in 1982. She is considered one of the most talented dancer of the Opera his generation.
From then on, she danced all the classical and neoclassical repertoire, with a predilection for the great dramatic heroines such as ballets Giselle, Romeo and Juliet, Manon, Notre-Dame de Paris or Eugene Onegin. She is particularly inspired by Jerome Robbins (In the Night, Dances at a Gathering, The Concert or Other Dances) and performs the works of the greatest current choreographers such as Maurice Béjart, John Neumeier, George Balanchine, Serge Lifar, Jiri Kylian, Paul Taylor, Roland Petit, Kenneth MacMillan, Martha Graham, Twyla Tharp, Alvin Ailey, William Forsythe and Giselle Mats Ek. She also addresses the contemporary repertoire with Daniel Larrieu, Christine Bastin, Joelle Bouvier, Régis Obadia, Blanca Li.
She is the guest star of many companies, such as the Boston Ballet, the Milan Scala, the Hamburg Ballet, the Stuttgart Ballet, the Berlin Staatsoper, the Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet, the Tokyo Ballet, the Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires or the Havana Festival.
Monique Loudières has benefited from the teaching of great masters such as Yves Brieux, Raymond Franchetti, Yvette Chauvire, Pierre Lacotte, Violette Verdy and Rudolf Noureiev who was also his partner in most of his productions. That's why she wants to share her experience with new generations of dancers. She becomes professor and rehearsal for the Prix de Lausanne, Europa Dance, the Paris Opera ...
In 1991, Dominique Delouche devoted a documentary entitled Comme les oiseaux.
In 2000, Rosella Hightower asked her to become the new director of her international school, the École supérieure de danse de Cannes, and she accepted to succeed him as artistic and pedagogical director from September 2001, a post she held until in early 2009.
