About

The lyrical tenor Mauro Peter was born in Lucerne. He was already a member of the Lucerne Boys Choir as a child and worked for many years in the Lucerne a cappella Ensemble Molto Cantabile.

He began studying voice at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich with Fenna Kügel-Seifried in 2008 and met there in a song class already on his later, permanent Lied accompanist Helmut Deutsch. He was also a member of the theater academy August Everding.

  Right from the start, Mauro Peter devoted himself equally to the opera, the concert and the song. Already during his studies he made his debut at the Munich Gärtnerplatztheater in a small role in Millöcker's "The poor Jonathan". There followed a variety of appearances in concerts of the Bayerischer Rundfunk, many of which were recorded on CD. At an early age, Mauro Peter devoted himself to song singing and performed in numerous recitals to the audience.

 In 2012 he was a member of the Young Singers project as part of the Salzburg Festival and won the 1st Prize and the Audience Award at the Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau.

  In May 2012 he made his debut with the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg. In September of the same year he jumped there for the short-suffering Anja Harteros and achieved a sensational success. Since then he has been a regular and popular guest at the Schubertiade.

 In 2013, Mauro Peter became a member of the ensemble at the Zurich Opera House, where he has since concentrated mainly on roles in the Mozart subject. He also guested u.a. at the Opéra de Lyon, the Opéra National de Paris, the Bavarian State Opera, the Theater an der Wien, the Scala in Milan, at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto and at the Salzburg Festival, where he has also been since 2012 occurs regularly.

 In summer 2018 he sings in the opening premiere of the Salzburg Festival Tamino in the "Magic Flute".

 Lieder recitals led him and others. to the KKL Luzern, to the Wigmore Hall in London, the Musikverein as well as the Konzerthaus Vienna, the Musikverein Graz, to the concert halls in Berlin and Dortmund, to the Kölner Philharmonie, the Pierre Boulez Saal and the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Oper Frankfurt and the Zurich Opera House, the Salzburg Festival and the Teatro de la Zarzuela Madrid.

 In addition, he had concert engagements u.a. in the Philharmonie in Gasteig Munich, the Royal Festival Hall London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Radio Orchestra Copenhagen, in Madrid, the Tchaikovsky Conservatory Moscow, the Mozarteum Salzburg, the Festival in Verbier and the Salzburg Festival.

 Mauro Peter worked among others. with the conductors Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Zubin Mehta, Fabio Luisi, Gustavo Dudamel, Cornelius Meister, Trevor Pinnock, Marc Albrecht, Laurence Cummings, Iván Fischer, Adam Fischer, John Eliot Gardiner, Ivor Bolton, Teodor Currentzis and Vladimir Jurowski.

For SONY Classical he played together with his musical partner Helmut Deutsch a Schubert and a Schumann program.

 In the season 2018/2019, recitals are planned at the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Prinzregententheater in Munich, the Mozart Week in Salzburg, the Kammermusikring Celle, the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg and the Musikverein Graz - always accompanied by Helmut Deutsch. Furthermore, Mauro Peter will be performing in Händel's "Messiah" with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra and Daniel Hope in Barcelona, ​​with Riccardo Muti at the La Scala in Milan and with his first evangelist in the "St. Matthew Passion" under Trevor Pinnock in Ottawa. At the Opernbühne, Mauro Peter sings the title role in Weber's "Oberon" at the Zurich Opera House in the world premiere of a scenic version of "Winterreise" for ballet and Belfiore in Mozart's "La finta giardiniera" and at the Theater an der Wien.
