Maurizio Millenotti is an Italian costume designer.
Maurizio Millenotti was born on 12 June 1946 in Reggiolo, in the Italian province of Reggio nel Emilia. He graduated from the professional technical Institute (Istituto Tecnico Professionale) in Reggio nel Emilia. After that he went to Paris, where he studied art history and design for four months. After his studies, he worked in a Paris workshop where masks and costumes were designed.
After returning to Italy, he accepted an invitation to cooperate with the famous designer and collector Umberto Tirelli and moved to Rome, where he worked for three years in the Studio "Sartori Tirelli". For 9 years he worked as an assistant costume designer, first with Lucia Mirisola, then with Gabriella Pescucci. During this period, he became an assistant costume designer in the movie.
In 1980, in the film "City of women" directed by Federico Fellini first worked as an assistant costume designer. In 1983, in another film Fellini "and the ship sails..." first worked as a costume designer. For this work, Millenotti was awarded the "Nastro d'argento". He was twice nominated for Academy awards for costumes in films directed by Franco Zeffirelli: "Othello "(1986) and" hamlet " (1991). In 1998, for the costumes in the film directed by Giuseppe Tornatore "the Legend of the pianist" was awarded the "David di Donatello".
