Matjaž Bogataj was born in 1987 in Slovenia.
He studied at the Grazer Kunstuniversität with Silvia Marcovici; In 2013, he received the Master of Arts with a unanimous award. A year later, at the Munich University of Music, the chamber music masters followed in the class of Wen Sinn Yang and Michael Schäffer. Since 2012 he performs as a violinist of the Munich ARTISTrios in Germany and abroad. Numerous live and studio recordings for BR, ORF, RAI and RTV Slovenija have already been released with this ensemble.
Matjaž Bogataj has been the leader of the second violin in the Bavarian State Orchestra since 2017. Earlier engagements led him to the Frankfurt Opera and Museum Orchestra.
