Mathias Susaas Halvorsen began playing piano at eight years old with Steinar Pedersen.
He studied under Prof. Jiri Hlinka at the Barratt Due Music Institute in Oslo and in Leipzig with Prof. Gerald Fauth. During his studies he performed several times as a soloist. in Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue and Schostakovich Piano Concerto No. 1. In 2009, he performed Halfdan Cleves Piano Concerto No. 5 with the Lithuania State Symphony Orchestra and conductor Gintaras Rinkevičius.
Together with Magnus Boye Hansen and Steven Walter, he performed the nocturnal and critically acclaimed concert project "Inn in the dark" in several places in Norway, Germany and Iceland. In recent years, Mathias has played in places such as Hamburg Schauspielhaus, Radialsystem in Berlin, St. John Smith Square, Ernst Deutsch Theater, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Oslo Arts Center. Of festivals he has performed at the Klara Festival in Brussels, the Brighton Festival, the Theater der Welt, the Bergen International Festival and Yoko Ono's Meltdown in London.
