Massimo Quarta is an Italian violinist. Soon considered one of the most brilliant violinists of his generation, he was a guest of some of the major festivals such as Stresa, Naples, Città di Castello, Kuhmo, Bodensee, Kfar Blum, Berliner Festwochen, Sarasota, Ravenna, Lyon, Potsdam, Spoleto, Ljubjana and invited by Gidon Kremer to the 2004 edition of the "Kammermusikfest" of Lockenhaus
Originally from Lecce, in Salento, he studied at the "Tito Schipa" Conservatory in Lecce and specialized in violin with Beatrice Antonioni, Salvatore Accardo, Abram Shtern, Pavel Vernikov. In 1991 he was the first Italian, after Salvatore Accardo in 1958, to win the Premio Paganini of Genoa: since then he has embarked on an international career that has led him to perform in such halls as the Berlin Philharmonie, the Salle Pleyel and the Théâtre du Châtelet of Paris, the Metropolitan art space of Tokyo. He also dedicates himself to conducting and is a professor at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland in Lugano. In 2017 he became artistic director of the Orquesta Filarmónica de la UNAM （OFUNAM） in Mexico City.
