Marta Fiol is a professional mezzo-soprano and teacher of technique and vocal expression. In his work he emphasizes not only the search for his own sound and the connections between body, breathing, voice, emotions and text, but also the development of creativity, pleasure in the emission of singing and in improvisation vocal, stage presence and Communication with the public. He has worked singing and lyrical repertoire with Myriam Alió, Joey Bates, Juliette Bise, Manuel García Morante, Kamal Khan, Aquiles Machado, Lorraine Nubar, Anna Ricci, Cynthia Sanner, Àngel Soler, Dario Vagliengo ...
Always passionate and linked to the theater, as an artist she has premiered the zarzuela “L'aplec del Remei”, by Anselm Clavé (dir. Xavier Albertí) at the National Theater of Catalonia (starring role Doña Paz) and the newly created opera “Puges or baixes ”(Paco Viciana, dir. Jordi Purtí). He has performed the monologue opera “La voix humaine” (Poulenc / Cocteau) under the direction of Manuel Dueso, as well as he has participated with a leading role in multiplicity of operas (“Le pauvre Matelot”, “Soledad”, “Un futur esplèndid” , Selima ”,“ Fantasia Lírica Opportunitas ”,“ Cal 33-33 or bon samarità ”, etc).
As an interpreter of contemporary music he has performed this spring in the “Off-Liceu” (Gran Teatro del Liceo, Barcelona) with a work by Ariadna Alsina. It was introduced in this area by Anna Ricci, premiering works by Peter Bacchus, Anna Bofill, Mercè Capdevila, Benet Casablancas, Agustí Charles, Eduardo Diago, Nino Díaz, Carles Eroles, Sergio Fidemraizer, Keiko Fujiie, Andrés Lewin-Richter, Francisco Martín- Jaime, Josep Maria Mestres Quadreny, Pedro Pardo, Jesús Rodríguez Picó, Albert Sardà, Carlos Silva, Josep Soler, Montserrat Torras, among other composers. He has performed this repertoire together with various instrumental formations, under the baton of Enric Ferrer, Domènec González de la Rubia, Juan José Olives, Pedro Pardo, Alfons Reverté Casas, among others. He has also explored improvisation, performance (with Josep Mª Balanyà, Carlos Silva, Christiaan de Jong) and fusion with different artistic languages. Last season he had the opportunity to work with director Albert Arribas, presenting a performance in the framework of the Institut Français, under the motto “L’imagination au pouvoir. La nuit des idées ”.
Its comic aspect has led her to train in clown with Eric de Bont, Álex Navarro and Pau Rossell, and to create scenic recitals exploring the diffusion of unusual vocal repertoire of the 20th century, in a humorous way. This is the case of "Sequenza, or the deconstruction of a diva" (dir. Joan Maria Segura), premiered at the Romea Theater in Barcelona (and recently scheduled at El Molino); “Ai, com m’agrades!” / “Oh, how I like you!” (Dir. Gemma Reguant); “Parelles mal embolicades (French opera of the 19th century)” / “Couples badly linked” (dir. Joan Lluís Bozzo), etc. This season has premiered its assembly "The girl does not want" (fusion of opera, theater, clown and dance, with own texts), at the Rose Bruford Theater in London and in the Dau al Sec room in Barcelona.
He has also participated in several musical plays: “Sweeney Todd” (Sondheim, dir. Mario Gas), “Candide” (Bernstein, dir. Xavier Albertí), “The Pied Piper's Retaule” (dir. Joan Lluís Bozzo), “ Boccato di Cardinale ”(Comediants, dir. Joan Font). His voice is recorded on different record labels ("Column Music", "Ars Harmonica", "Fundació Música Contemporània", "Kamalundu", ...).
Her curiosity about the relationship between voice, music and the different aspects of communication has led her to provide training for teachers of Infant and Primary Education, give voice classes in business, edit books (she has been director of the Department of Early Childhood Education and Artistic Areas of Grupo Edebé publishing house), and to write, produce and direct shows of various characteristics. This is currently the case in the Palau de la Música Catalana of the family shows “BIM BOM, nadons al Palau”, for babies; “ZIG-ZAG, passets al Palau”, for children under 3 years old; and “Abans de néixer al Palau” for pregnant women). He was also responsible for the premiere in Spain of the opera of Poulenc / Cocteau "Les mamelles de Tirésias" and its Catalan version, with text by Miquel Desclot.
She is a Fitzmaurice Voicework professor at the Eòlia School of Dramatic Arts, in the training for music professionals "Dalcroze Rhythmic Certificate", in the Postgraduate "Music, creativity and movement", and regularly teaches workshops of different characteristics.
Parallel to her artistic career, on a private level she is a vocal trainer of actors, singers, professionals from different fields (lawyers, commercials, presenters, etc.) and of those people who are looking for a holistic and integrative approach in the work of the voice, respectful of Vulnerability, technical and humanistic at the same time, taking into account that it is a valuable personal development tool.
